Nordiques Crush Titans

The Maine Nordiques kicked off an 8 game homestead with a 3 game weekend against the New Jersey Titans. The Nordiques looked to stay undefeated at home and another home weekend sweep

The Nordiques were 2-6 against the titans last season and look to reverse the scrip on them this season. The first period saw 3 Nordiques goals starting with Isaiah Fox shorthanded tally. Fox wouldn’t stop there as he added another less than 4 minutes later, this time on even strength to make it 2-0 Nords. The first had the Nordiques continuing their forecheck and offensive pressure which made the Titans take a penalty and earned them another goal on the power play. Cooper Swift would blast one off a one timer for his first of the season from Owens and Fox. 3-0 Nords after 1.

The start of the 2nd period wasn’t the stopping point for the Nords offense, Stephen Owens put home his second of the season from Pattison and Strauss for a 4-0 Nordiques lead. The Titans would respond 2 minutes later to get on the board. 4-1 Nords after 2.

Head Coach Nolan Howe and the Nordiques focused on getting their offense to get points and score this season. James Philpott did just that, after a good Nordiques offensive showing to start the 3rd without a goal, James Philpott found the back of the net streaking up and joining a 3 on 2 rush for his first of the season. He was assisted by defenseman Cooper Swift and Isaiah Fox. Fox got it up the wing, found Swift who would then back hand one over to Philpott for the goal. Exactly 40 seconds later the Nordiques added one for good measure from Tyler Gaulin from Strauss and Ty Mathews for his first assist of the season. Tyriq Outen who played a phenomenal game in net finished with 41/42 stops.
