The Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Tyler Gaulin has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Maine in Hockey East.
Tyler Gaulin who is 18 has been very good so far for the Nordiques, helping them get off to a 6-1-0 start and first place in the NAHL East division.
During the week of October 6-12, Gaulin was named the NAHL’s East Division Star of the week for his four-point weekend. He has recorded at least 1 point in 6 out of 7 games so far this season.
When Nolan Howe was asked about Tyler’s ability on the ice and his impact on plays Coach Howe stated that “Tyler is a dynamic forward who uses his hockey sense to put himself in great position on the ice and is usually multiple steps ahead of his opponents. His work away from the puck and his chemistry with his teammates allowed him to utilize his skillset to put up a number or important points for our team. The best part about Tyler is that the most important four points earned this weekend ( the opening weekend of play when the Nords swept the Generals ) where from the team wins, not his own statistics, which is the standard within our locker room. We look forward to him continuing his hot start as the season continues,”
Tyler Gaulin was also asked about what it meant to play at such a high level. He went onto express: “I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey and further my education at the University of Maine. Can’t thank my friends, family, teammates, and coaches enough for helping get to where I am today,” said Gaulin. “Everything about their program is so professional, from the coaching staff to the facilities. I was star-struck. I could not see a better fit for me.”
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Gaulin played four seasons for Berwick Academy in Maine. He set and still has the scoring record at Berwick academy and currently ( as of 10/26 ) leads the NAHL and Nordiques in points with 4 goals and 6 assist for 10 points.
